Verbs reflect the subject in their endings. |

Subjects do not always appear explicitly, because verbs have endings that indicate the subject. In Spanish, the subject often does not overtly appear in a sentence. This is because the verbs Contrasting with English, in Spanish subjects often appear after the verb, instead of before. Esta tarde corren con nosotros Javier y Elena. |

The endings of verbs are formed (conjugated) according to the infinitive endings: -ar/-er/-ir. Infinitive endings determine the conjugation, that is, all other endings for the verb, besides any internal irregularity the verb may have. |

In terms of regularity, there are 3 kinds of verbs, depending to what happens to the stem (or root) when the verb is conjugated. The stem is the infinitive minus -ar/-er/-ir endings: A verb is not always stem-changing or irregular in every tense. |

Conjugated verbs also indicate tense (time) and mood (real versus potential or subjective), or commands.

EL INDICATIVO | The indicative mood is the most frequent verb mood, as it appears in all simple and complex sentences that are not commands. It is used to state the reality, as it is known to the person who speaks—what it’s done, known, and thought. | |||
EL SUBJUNTIVO |
The subjunctive mood is used to express actions that are not real, or unknown, or tainted by subjectivity. | |||
EL IMPERATIVO |
The imperative is most commonly referred to as command forms (mandatos), and is used for giving instruction, or telling people what to do. |

There are command forms for tú, usted, ustedes, vosotras/os and nosotras/os. In Wespañol only the forms for usted/ustedes and tú are presented, which are the most common and widely used commands. |
